Introducing the Nashville International Piano Competition

The Steinway Society of Nashville is pleased to establish the Nashville International Piano Competition. This inaugural competition will recognize with scholarships the outstanding gifts of students who are seeking to study piano at a National Accredited School of Music (NASM) in Tennessee.

The Nashville International Piano Competition will be open to all classically trained high school pianists in grades 9 through 12 (or within the four years before university entrance), regardless of their present state or country of residence. Those interested in applying for one of these scholarships should complete the Online Application indicated by the link on this page. Complete competition information is available under “The Competition” tab.

The Steinway Society of Nashville – a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization and sponsor for the event – is hosting the first competition in Spring 2012, continuing thereafter on a biennial basis. A panel of noted judges will determine the winners. Competition repertoire requirements for 2012 are two contrasting pieces, as mentioned in our “Competition Rules” section of this website.

The awards are designated to facilitate undergraduate study of piano at any NASM in the state of Tennessee and will be awarded in the following amounts:

  • First Prize  - $5,000 scholarship
  • Second Prize – $3,000 scholarship
  • Third Prize  - $1,500 scholarship
