Policy and Procedures
Prizes to be awarded in a ceremony following live auditions in Nashville are:
- First Prize: $10,000 scholarship (Cash Prize $1000)
- Second Prize: $5,000 scholarship (Cash Prize $750)
- Third Prize: $3,000 scholarship (Cash Prize $500)
Prize money must be used to pursue an undergraduate major in music with an emphasis in piano at any National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)-accredited school in the state of Tennessee, U.S.A. The student’s major instrument must be piano. NASM accredited schools in Tennessee.
Prize money may be used in any music degree track: performance, music education, church music, piano pedagogy, collaborative piano, and others.
Prize money will go directly to the student’s account at his/her chosen school prior to the beginning of the freshman year. All prize monies will be held in escrow until the student notifies NIPC which university they will attend and the date of university entry.
If the student decides not to attend school in Tennessee and/or not to major in music with piano as major instrument, prize money will be returned to Nashville International Piano Competition. The money will be applied to the costs of the freshman year of study. If the student changes majors after the freshman year, he or she will not have to repay NIPC.
The jury’s decisions are final and not subject to review.
The first-place winner of the 2016 NIPC competition will not be eligible to enter the competition again in 2018.
